The Chippewa Central mitigation site is located in Medina County, Ohio, on 600 acres of land acquired by the Medina County Park District for park land and habitat restoration. The mitigation wetland will be approximately 111.6 acres, 18 acres of which will be restored. Approximately 93.6 acres of jurisdictional wetlands dominated by Phalaris arundinacea (reed canary grass) will be enhanced. The restored wetland habitats will include 18 acres of forested and scrub-shrub habitat. Enhanced wetlands will include 91.6 acres of emergent herbaceous habitats and 12 acres of scrub-shrub habitats. Medina County Park District will manage the restored and enhanced wetlands as park lands, used for environmental education with interpretive programs and signs at the mitigation site.
