The White Star Park mitigation sites (White Star and White Star EA) are located in Sandusky County, Ohio, within the boundaries of the metropolitan park of the same name. White Star mitigation wetland will be approximately 60.3 acres, containing emergent herbaceous (9.8 acres), wet meadow (15 acres), scrub-shrub (22 acres) and forested (13.5 acres) habitats. White Star EA will be approximately 70 acres containing emergent herbaceous (5.0 acres), wet meadow (14.0 acres) and forested with interspersed scrub-shrub (51 acres). Sandusky County Park District will integrate the wetlands into White Star Park, using the restored wetlands for environmental education.

All restored wetlands will be category 2 and 3 wetlands, managed and maintained as wetlands in perpetuity.

Subject to the approval of the regulatory agencies the site is an appropriate location for mitigation for wetland impacts to category 2 or 3 wetlands in the same or adjacent watersheds, and for impacts to category 1 wetlands and for impacts to 3 acres or less of category 2 isolated wetlands anywhere within the boundaries of the Buffalo District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.   See Blue Heron Reserve for mitigation in an adjacent watershed. 

Credits are available for $17,000 per acre.
